Brown Trout, Mountain White Fish, Rainbow TroutCome enjoy 2 miles of Willow Creek and the New Fork River in Pinedale, Wyoming. The New Fork River originates at New Fork Lakes, in the arms of the Wind River Mountains, 24 miles north of Pinedale. The New Fork River is peaceful and intimate with plenty of options to enjoy a day of fishing. This wild trout fishery is a haven for brown and rainbow trout in the 14 to 24-inch class. This property holds deeper holes that all have the opportunity to hold and catch brown trout. The trout spook easily when the water is low and clear, so consider putting on lighter tippets and smaller flies in those conditions. The New Fork River can be challenging to fly fish but both the beginner and advanced angler can have success. While on this property do not overlook Willow Creek, there is a lot of creek to cover in 1 day so it’ll be worth it to keep moving to cover all the holes. This property has pretty easy access to get to the water and lots of parking. You will find some willows along the banks but casting and wading should be easy for most anglers. Per a local angler, Willow Creek is a good property to fish when other waters are muddied by thunderstorms. This creek does not get affected as much by weather as most rivers do. New Fork River does not get as blown out as other rivers do during runoff and weather as it is coming from a dammed mountain lake. 4WD recommended. Although we typically get your booking approved within a few hours, please allow up to 1 business day for booking confirmations. Due to livestock and other concerns, dogs are not allowed on this property. Camping prices are per vehicle. When booking please specify what you are camping in. Please practice “leave no trace” principles and pack out all trash. You will need to supply your own water. Wood fires are allowed, please follow all state and local fire bans. There are two campsites on this property and one can hold larger campers/RVs. These sites are hayfields that cattle graze on and have fairly easy vehicle access.

The Ranch owner was great we got to personally meet them. The fishing was really good day 1 but i would say it’s only good for one day. The other thing was when we originally booked it said 4 miles of water, then later it changed to 2 miles. This piece of water also allows for 4 fisherman. I live in Pinedale and I can tell you if there was four people on the water it would have been unusable for everyone. Last thing that I would say is that the water has potential of never being rested, so you never know if it’s been fished by four people the entire week before you and that small of water could never handle that pressure. Rare Waters should have some rules in place for fish management or their waters will be trashed in a small amount of time.

Great property. Would need more than one day to explore both waters. I only fished part of the New Fork. Weather was cold with some snow and rain so water clarity was a bit off, but still found fish on both nymph and dries. I was surprised at the size and quality of the fish. Landed a couple 15"+ browns. Met the ranch manager and another employee who were very helpful with tactics. I can only imagine this fishes better as weather conditions improve.
