Brook Trout, Rainbow TroutCome enjoy 2.4 miles on the Williamson River 1 hour outside of Chiloquin, Oregon. Here you will be able to find trout fishing while enjoying the views from the grassy meadows of the meandering river. The landowners have done years of habitat restoration with the ODFW and conservation groups to build 33 channel spans to slow the water in the river and create great pools and pockets for trout habitat. The Williamson River offers a captivating experience surrounded by beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. Anglers can expect to catch various species of fish, with the primary focus being on native redband trout, also known as rainbow trout. The access is easy, the access road takes you right near the river. Please note this is a working ranch with hayfields, the fields are always irrigated and the runoff from the irrigation does go into the access road which can lead to about 8" of water to drive through on the access road. That being said, 2WD should be fine because it is rocked and you should not get stuck. No low-riding vehicles. You can always park near the campsite and walk down about 1 mile if you are not comfortable driving the access road to the river. The Williamson River is spring-fed (42 degrees year round) and is suitable for bank fishing with easy access to walking along the river. This property provides access to both sides of the river with 2 bridges on the property to take you from one side to the other. Enjoy the sounds of the Sand Hill Cranes as you cast your line in the water. Look for deep pools and undercut banks to find fish that are waiting there. The property itself allows easy access for beginners and intermediate anglers, however, the fishing itself can be technical at times. Update as of November 2023 the landowner has made vast improvements to the fishery. Multiple Beaver Anolog Dams have been placed. This has allowed the water to gain anywhere from 1' to 2' of water depth. They have also placed weirs and other structures throughout the property. Please note this is in a remote canyon and you do not have cell service. Under the Washington Stream Access Law, the public may use rivers and streams for recreational purposes up to the ordinary high-water mark. Although unlikely, you could potentially see other anglers while on this property. RareWaters mission is to spread the power of the outdoors and the inspiration to conserve it. To that end, we try our best to find properties that are away from the crowds for a serene fishing experience. This property also has cabins available for rent. Please email us at support@rarewaters.com for more information. Although we typically get your booking approved within a few hours, please allow up to 1 business day for booking confirmations. Camping prices are per vehicle/per day. Camping is dispersed camping and sits atop a hill 1 mile from the river with nice views. You can walk or drive down to the river frontage. Please practice "leave no trace" principles and pack out all trash. You will need to supply your own water. Tents, Vans, and Truck campers are allowed. Travel trailers can camp at this site as well as it is fairly flat and easy to maneuver around. ***No signs are placed on this property at this time, you will need to leverage/download the GPS coordinates sent to you on the map.
