The river is known to have a low count of fish per mile from Montana FWP, that being said you have the opportunity to catch trophy rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, and bull trout, as well as other fish species. You can experience some of the best trout fishing in the state while enjoying the stunning scenery and a view of the Pintlers Moutain Range.
Water access is easy with cut banks along each side of the river following many ‘S’ bends throughout the property making this a great place for all ages and angler experience. The property offers easy casting and open grasslands, making it an inviting spot to fish. Utilize the access by fishing towards the middle of the property, to enjoy fishing away from the crowds and the public access areas. Keep your eyes open so you can see that elusive moose that can make its way onto the property.
Please note, Under the Montana Stream Access Law, the public may use rivers and streams for recreational purposes up to the ordinary high-water mark. Although unlikely, you could potentially see other anglers while on this property. RareWaters mission is to spread the power of the outdoors and the inspiration to conserve it. To that end, we try our best to find properties that are away from the crowds for a serene fishing experience.
The river is smaller than downstream, at around 10 yards wide. Anglers should target larger and deeper holes with oxygenated water, such as riffles that lead into deep pools. Small nymphs in the #18-#20 range, as well as midges, baetis, and mayfly patterns, are safe bets all year round. 200 CFS is an ideal flow to fish the Clark Fork River.
