Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Mountain White Fish, Rainbow TroutEnjoy 2.5 river miles of the Clark Fork River near Deer Lodge, Montana. Fishing on the Clark Fork River near Deer Lodge, Montana can be a rewarding experience for anglers. The river is known to have a low count of fish per mile from Montana FWP, that being said you have the opportunity to catch trophy rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, and bull trout, as well as other fish species. You can experience some of the best trout fishing in the state while enjoying the stunning scenery and a view of the Pintlers Moutain Range. The river is smaller than downstream, at around 10 yards wide. Anglers should target larger and deeper holes with oxygenated water, such as riffles that lead into deep pools. Small nymphs in the #18-#20 range, as well as midges, baetis, and mayfly patterns, are safe bets all year round. 200 CFS is an ideal flow to fish the Clark Fork River. Water access is easy with cut banks along each side of the river following many ‘S’ bends throughout the property making this a great place for all ages and angler experience. The property offers easy casting and open grasslands, making it an inviting spot to fish. Utilize the access by fishing towards the middle of the property, to enjoy fishing away from the crowds and the public access areas. Keep your eyes open so you can see that elusive moose that can make its way onto the property. Ponds on the property are not fishable at this time. They are under habitat reconstruction and we hope to stock them in the future. If you have a larger group, take a look at our neighboring properties. With all 3 properties, you could have a group of 16 enjoy a day on the water. Please note, Under the Montana Stream Access Law, the public may use rivers and streams for recreational purposes up to the ordinary high-water mark. Although unlikely, you could potentially see other anglers while on this property. RareWaters mission is to spread the power of the outdoors and the inspiration to conserve it. To that end, we try our best to find properties that are away from the crowds for a serene fishing experience. Although we typically get your booking approved within a few hours, please allow up to 1 business day for booking confirmations.

5 out of 5 stars
This property is fantastic. Like the other RW properties near here on the Clark Fork, there are some sizeable browns lurking in the deeper pools. A simple black sparkle bugger did the job. There were a lot of PMD's and some Caddis which smaller fish were taking on the surface. The best water I found was starting at the upstream border and working down through the first 4-5 bends. I was unable to work the entire property as it is sizable. The river was crossable in places as flows had come down a bit. I would expect hopper dropper season to be amazing here. Tons of water to explore and access is fairly easy although you will need to bushwack a bit through all of the willows in places. The owners have done a great job with stream restoration here. I will be back again.
