Brown Trout, Rainbow TroutEnjoy a 1/2 mile of fishing on the Gold medal waters of the Arkansas River. This property is near Texas Creek, CO, and just 30 minutes from Canon City. Here you will find Rainbows and Browns, and a Caddis hatch that is prolific in the spring. During the summer and fall the dry fly and streamer action is not to be missed. Streamers and nymphs do exceptionally well when the river is high due to recent rain or runoff. This part of the Arkansas River is one of the 8 best trout rivers in the state. Be sure to glance up and around at your surroundings as there are 100 species of birds that inhabit this area, as well as, elk, deer, and bighorn sheep.
The majority of this property offers easy access with a footbridge to access both sides of the river. Near the campground, the bank has moderately easy river access as the bank is steep.
** Campers can pay to fish the section that we lease out, but they will be sure not to exceed the 4 max angler restriction** Campers who do not pay extra can fish in front of the campground where we are not allowed to fish.
