Brook Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, WhitefishThis property is “request to book”. See below for more details. About 40 minutes outside of Idaho Falls you will find 0.70 miles of the Teton River to enjoy a day of fishing. The Teton River flows along the west side of the Tetons and provides some of the best fishing for both the beginner and the advanced angler. You will find Rainbow, Cutthroat, Cutt-bows, German Brown Trout, and Brook Trout. The Teton River provides prolific hatches throughout spring and into the fall. This property has an abundance of wildlife from osprey and bald eagles, to deer and fox. The downriver half of the river access is very easy to cast from with rocky banks and plenty of back-casting space, whereas the upriver half is relatively covered in willows and some trees. This variety provides incredible fish habitat, and large trout have been caught on this stretch of river many times. Downstream access is best for spring fishing and the upstream river access is great for late summer fishing. Guide access is sometimes available – although limited. Anglers may run into the odd float-guided trip, but not often. The landowner has landed a 2ft+ Cuttbow hybrid in his backyard before. If anglers want a chance at not just catching many, but large trout as well, then this is the property to go to. The Teton River has iconic bug life and trout in its system, making this a world-class fishery and a destination anglers will travel far and wide for. That being said, it is still fly fishing, and inexperienced anglers may not have the easiest time catching fish. Stick to dry flies and nymphing for volumes of fish, however, there are opportunities for anglers to streamer fish and target larger trout. Although we typically get your booking approved within a few hours, please allow up to 1 business day for booking confirmations. Due to livestock and other concerns, dogs and other pets are NOT permitted on this property. No signs are placed on this property at this time, you will need to leverage/download the GPS coordinates sent to you on the map. The landowner will greet you at his property and give you the lay of the land. Request to book: When you select your dates and hit the “book now” button you are sending in a request to book, please note this is not a confirmed booking. If it is available, we will accept your booking/payment and send a confirmation email. If it is not available, we will inform you via email.

Another awesome visit to the Carter’s property! Targeted the first cold storm of the fall (September 11 & 12) to head back down to the lower Teton and see what the trout were up to after a very hot and dry couple weeks of slow fishing. Day 1 was kind of a the transition day with flows slowly rising from 500cfs. We fished hard and caught some beautiful browns and bows in the 14”-18” range, with Purple Haze #14 & Prince Nymphs #12 being the go-to flies. We found some of the best fishing this day in the braided section just above Craig’s home. Day 2 was one of those weather classic cold, wet & windy days where you just hammer angry trout all day. Conditions were STELLAR as the flows reached up to 560cfs and started to push the big browns out of there resting water. These browns were really cueing in on stone flies, the bigger and uglier, the better! Dead drifts worked well but most effective were short casts with tiny jerk/strip retrieves. Beadhead Prince Nymphs w/ rubber legs #10 & TJ Hooker (coffee color) were DYNOMITE. Always an amazing time at the Carter’s! This has me wondering how good the bite got after two more cold storms since we were there… Looking forward for another beautiful short drive from Teton Valley to fish here again. Thank you RW team!
